Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on leaders to respect each other despite their roles.

Kindiki added that Kenyans should also respect their leaders for the country to develop.

Speaking in Embu on Sunday, the DP told off critics asking them to respect each other and avoid idle talks.

“All leaders are welcomed everywhere and anywhere, they should be treated well whether they are in office or out of office, it does not matter, they are still our leaders, but they must also respect other people and leaders,” Kindiki said.

“I can see some people talking so much and I like it that way, they think it is an easy thing. We will not allow that to continue, tuheshimiane!”

The DP said that he has recently maintained a low profile and has not engaged in criticising anyone.

“Na kama ukona hasira zako na mambo ya visirani, usituletee sisi. Please tuheshimiane, I repeat tuheshimane, mimi heshima zote nimekupatia, but you must also respect me kwa sababu mimi naona mahali tunaelekea kuna mahali tunataka kufika,” the DP stated.

Loosely translates to: If you are angry with your issues, don’t bring it to us. Please let us respect each other and I repeat, let us respect each other. I have given you my respect but you must also respect me because with this, we will not do things well.
