IEBC SUMMONS UDA SECRETARY GENERAL HASSAN OMAR
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has summoned UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar to appear before its Electoral Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee on October 21, 2026.
The summons relates to remarks he allegedly made during a public rally in Jomvu, Mombasa County, on September 11, 2026, suggesting that fingerprints of deceased persons could be used to cast votes in favour of President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
IEBC said the matter is being considered under the Electoral Code of Conduct outlined in the Elections Act, 2011. The committee will give Omar an opportunity to respond to the allegations before making its determination.
