Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has announced plans to conduct unannounced visits to public health facilities across the county as part of efforts to address poor service delivery, misconduct among healthcare workers and operational inefficiencies.

The governor said the inspections will focus on assessing the condition of healthcare infrastructure, staff discipline, waiting times and the quality of services offered to patients.

Nassir noted that the move is aimed at identifying challenges affecting public hospitals and ensuring that healthcare workers remain accountable while delivering services to residents.

“We are committed to making quality healthcare services accessible to all residents of Mombasa,” said Nassir, who also chairs the Council of Governors (CoG) Committee on Health.

He further emphasised the need for patients to receive timely and dignified treatment regardless of the facility they visit.

“We remain dedicated to ensuring that every patient receives timely, compassionate, and dignified care, regardless of where they access services within the healthcare system,” he stated.

The planned inspections come amid growing calls for improved accountability, efficiency and quality of healthcare services in public medical facilities.
