William Ruto Names Rigathi Gachagua as Running Mate

Deputy President William Ruto and Kenya Kwanza announced Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate ahead of the August 9 polls on 15th May 2022. 

Ruto stated that he had considered the political skills and ability to deal with the country’s economic issues and capacity in decision-making. 

The DP hailed Gachagua as a skilled debater and talented political operative who had risen through the ranks to become the best candidate for the second-in-command in the Kenya Kwanza formation. 

Kenya Kwanza Alliance had faced a stalemate after both Gachagua and Kindiki maintained a hardline stance on the running mate slot.

Speaking after being fronted as the DP’s running mate in Karen, Nairobi, Gachagua said he is ready to support the DP to champion economic empowerment in the country.
