Taita Taveta County has officially launched its 3rd Annual Performance Assessment (APA) under the KDSP II Level 2 Grant, marking a significant step in its push to strengthen service delivery and institutional performance.

The milestone follows months of preparation by the County Programme Implementation Unit (CPIU), which has been working to ensure the county is fully ready for the rigorous evaluation process.

The assessment is being conducted by Independent Verification Agents (IVAs), who are tasked with objectively reviewing and validating the county’s performance. Their findings will determine whether Taita Taveta qualifies for the KDSP II Level 2 Grant—an important funding stream aimed at improving governance systems and public services.

At the heart of the exercise is a strict principle: performance must be proven, not just reported. County officials are required to present clear, verifiable evidence of all achievements, as failure to do so could result in missing out on the grant.

The evaluation focuses on key areas including compliance with minimum conditions such as approved work plans and budgets, as well as progress in critical reform sectors like public financial management, human resource and payroll integrity, and citizen participation.

The outcome of the assessment will be based on verified institutional improvements, which will directly influence the allocation of funds.

The process highlights Governor Andrew Mwadime’s emphasis on accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement, as the county seeks to enhance service delivery for its residents.
