The Communications Authority (CA) of Kenya Director General, Ezra Chiloba, has clarified that the directive to register mobile lines will only affect unregistered sim cards and not all users of the various network service providers as presumed before.

The directive came just two days after CA issued a warning that Kenyans who do not register their sim cards afresh before the deadline of April 15, would be fined Ksh300,000 or imprisoned for six months.

Following the CA threats, Kenyans expressed their dissatisfaction accusing the Communications Authority of failing to explain why they ought to register already registered sim cards.
