Governor Mwadime Issue Ksh.15M Bursaries To Secondary Students
TaitaaTaveta governor on 3rd October, issued cheques worth Ksh. 15 Million to secondary school principals for 400 students who are in a fully-funded secondary school sponsorship program.
The governor cleared arrears to ensure students from TaitaTavea learn without interruption of being sent home in a bid to improve the county education standards.
“I would like to thank the principals for retaining our scholars in school as we were busy looking for funds to clear the fee arrears.
Quality Education remains to be a major contributor towards the realization of the country’s development agenda. My Government is determined to mobilize more resources to provide financial support to needy students.
So far, a total of 472 students have benefited from the program since its inception. Currently, the number of scholars in form 1 to form 4 from the different schools countrywide stands at 400.
I am aware that there are pending education loans for college and university students for about Ksh. 12M. My Government shall move with speed to ensure that the funds are disbursed so as to facilitate the learning for our scholars.
Immediately after the disbursement is done, we shall announce the opening of the application for County Education loans.
We shall also announce fresh application of bursaries to all students as soon as we are done with the exercise of putting in place new Ward Bursary Committees whose terms of office has expired.
