IEBC Gazettes William Ruto as President-Elect
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially gazetted Deputy President William Ruto as the president-elect.
In a gazette notice dated August 16, IEBC chair, Wafula Chebuakati, reiterated that Ruto was duly elected as per the requirements and stipulations of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Chebukati stated that Ruto and his deputy-elect, Rigathi Gachagua, now have the mandate to run the country once they are officially sworn in.
“William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua have been duly elected as the President and Deputy President, respectively, of the Republic of Kenya having complied with the provisions of Article 138 (4) of the Constitution, during the General Election held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022,” Chebulati stated.
