Leaders aspiring to be presidents and governors have until May 16 to name deputies, Says Chebukati
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC, extends presidential and governors running mate nomination deadline to May 16, 2022.
The meeting between IEBC and political parties agreed on a two-week extension from the initial April 28.
Speaking on Tuesday after a consultative meeting with representatives of political parties, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said that the names of governor aspirants has been extended by 2 weeks and they will be summited on May 16.
“The date for submission of aspirants lists for presidential candidates and deputies as well as gubernatorial candidates and deputies will be on 16th of May next month,” he said.
Chebukati also said the deadline for submission of names for aspirants for Members of National Assembly, Woman Representative, Senate and Members of County Assembly remains Thursday, April 28.
