Gonda ya Bara Isanga (Mwatate) and Luworo Cultural group (Taveta) emerged position one in “mwazindika traditional dance” and Taveta folk song respectively in just concluded 96th Kenya Music and Cultural Festivals held in Wote, Makueni.

Taita Taveta County Assembly Choir emerged number one in a set piece arrangement, an own composition

Taita folksong arrangement and a Somali folksong,

Tamvota choir from Wundanyi scooped cultural group mixed voices title and Mao Mshono Self help group of Mwatate became position one in exhibitions.

Raymond Ngudo (Kiswahili solo verse) amd William – Mzinyi Ubuntu (solo verse) also emerged number one.

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) is leveraging on the KMCF platform to create awareness on its mandate and programs among participants in line with the Board’s consumer advisory role. 

The festival aligns with KFCB’s mandate in the area of promoting Kenya’s culture, National values, and aspirations.

TaitaTaveta County Executive Committee Member for Youth, Sports, Gender, Culture and Social Services Shedrack Mutungi praised the team for positioning the county at the top, reiterating Governor Andrew Mwadime-Wakujaa’s agenda in promoting cultural preservation and empowering the community through creative industry.

CECM Mutungi also passed the governor’s request to the State Department for Culture and the committee in charge of the Kenya Music and Cultural Festival to consider Taita Taveta county to host the next year’s festivals.
