Kitui MCA Arrested in Nairobi Over Alleged Mobile Phone Thefts
A sitting Member of the County Assembly (MCA) representing Ikanga/Kyatune Ward in Kitui County has been arrested in Nairobi over alleged mobile phone thefts reported in the Central Business District (CBD).
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspect as Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, who was arrested by detectives from Kamukunji Police Station along Mfangano Street following intelligence linking him to several reported phone theft incidents.
According to the DCI, the MCA had been under investigation over three separate incidents reported in August and September 2026. Detectives reportedly used CCTV footage to identify him in connection with the incidents.
The arrest also brought to light an outstanding warrant in a separate case. Musyoka is wanted in Criminal Case No. 112/303/2024 after allegedly failing to appear in court following his release on bond by the Makadara Law Courts, where he had been charged with stealing.
The suspect is currently in police custody as detectives process him ahead of his expected arraignment in court.
The DCI has reiterated its commitment to pursuing criminal investigations and bringing suspects before the courts, regardless of their position or status in society.
The allegations against Musyoka remain subject to the court process, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
