Catholics across the globe came together on Easter Sunday to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, sharing a powerful message of hope and renewal.

Delivering his first Easter blessing at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Leo XIV made a heartfelt call for peace, urging global leaders to embrace dialogue over conflict.

“May those with the power to start wars choose peace—not a peace imposed by force, but one built through dialogue; not to dominate, but to unite,” he declared.

Speaking before more than 50,000 faithful, the pontiff also warned against a growing “globalization of indifference,” reinforcing concerns previously raised by Pope Francis.

Meanwhile, ongoing tensions in the Middle East continue to impact Christian communities. In Jerusalem, the usually vibrant surroundings of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre—widely believed to be the site of Christ’s resurrection—remained unusually quiet, with heightened security restricting access to only a limited number of worshippers.
