ORPP Approves Reservation of Linda Mwananchi Movement Name
The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has approved the reservation of the proposed Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM) name and abbreviation.
The approval was communicated in a letter dated October 1, 2026, following a recent decision by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal directing the Registrar to reconsider the application.
The name reservation is valid for a maximum of 90 days. However, the approval does not amount to full registration as a political party. The promoters must still meet the remaining legal and administrative requirements under Kenya’s Political Parties Act before the organisation can obtain full registration.
The development clears an important procedural step for the proposed movement as it seeks to formalise its political identity ahead of the 2027 General Election.
