Government Releases 2024 Schools’ Calendar
The Ministry of Education on Friday unveiled the 2024 calendar for pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools as well as teachers’ training colleges.
The pre-primary, primary and secondary schools will have 13 weeks of classwork from January 8 to April 5, 2024, with a mid-term break from February 29 to March 3.
The schools will open for Term One on January 8, 2024, and run for a period of 13 weeks before closing on April 5, 2024.
The students will proceed on a three-day half-term break from February 29th to March 3, 2024 before heading home for a three-week holiday from April 8 to April 26 at the end of the first term.
The second term will resume on April 29, 2024. Thereafter, they will break for the half-term holiday from June 20 to June 23, 2024.
The second term will run for 14 weeks before ending on August 2, 2024.
According to the Ministry of Education, the final term will commence on August 26, 2024, and run until October 25, 2024.
During the term, the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations will be held from October 28 to October 31, 2024 while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates will sit exams from November 4 to November 22.
The students will thereafter proceed on a long holiday from October 28 to January 3, 2025.
