Families severely affected by hunger in TaitaTaveta county will benefit from the 1st phase consignment of relief food distribution by the National Government where the County received 1,600 and 640 bags of of rice and beans respectively.

H.E. Deputy Governor Christine Kilalo has joined Mwatate Deputy County Commissioner Margaret Mwaniki in flagging off a consignment of foodstuff, destined to reach those hard hit by hunger across the county.

This is an initiative by the National Government through the Ministry of Special Programmes.

” As the world is battling with effects of climate change, all players in both levels of government and private sector, must join hands to save those in dire need of food.” Deputy Governor remarked,

She further called on development partners and institutions to come on board and work together with the County Government to eradicate hunger.

The Deputy County Commissioner told residents that the National Government is doing everything possible to cushion her citizens from the current hard times.

She said they are working closely with chiefs and other grassroots leaders to make sure those most affected benefit.
