Judge Aggrey Muchelule’s Pistol Linked to Westlands Restaurant Robbery Recovery
Kenyans have reacted with surprise after it emerged that a Beretta pistol recovered during investigations into the recent Westlands restaurant robbery is registered to Justice Aggrey Muchelule.
According to the judge, he only became aware that the firearm, bearing serial number H20930Y, was missing after police informed him that it had been recovered in Joska during ongoing investigations.
Justice Muchelule reportedly told investigators that the last time he physically checked the pistol was in October 2025, when he intended to renew his firearm licence. However, he said he later forgot to complete the licence renewal process and did not realize the weapon had gone missing.
The circumstances surrounding how the licensed firearm ended up in the hands of individuals allegedly linked to the Westlands robbery remain under investigation.
Police are continuing with inquiries to establish when and how the firearm left the judge’s possession, as well as whether it was stolen or obtained through other means.
Authorities have not yet released further details on the ongoing investigations.
