EACC Blacklists 241 Names of Ineligible Aspirants Forwards to IEBC
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to block 241 aspirants from contesting in the August 9 polls.
EACC says the 241 including outgoing Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria, former Nairobi governors Mike Sonko and Evans Kidero, and Kirinyaga’s Anne Mumbi Waiguru, failed the integrity test owing to active cases and investigations against them.
The anti-graft body said the flagging follows an integrity verification process undertaken by the Commission with respect to 21,863 persons seeking registration as candidates for various political positions.
