Rophine International University Construction Begins in Kwale
Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has officially launched the construction of Rophine International University in Madago, Kinondo Ward, Msambweni Sub-County.
The new institution is an expansion of the Rophine Field Group of Schools, which has its roots in Ukunda Ward and operates primary, secondary and international sixth-form campuses in different parts of the country.
Rophine International University is expected to offer programmes focused on innovation, the blue economy, technical education and career-oriented skills to prepare students for the demands of the modern job market.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Achani welcomed the establishment of the university in Madago, saying it would create new opportunities for local residents and contribute to the economic growth of the area.
Achani encouraged residents of Kwale to take advantage of the institution once it becomes operational by enrolling in its programmes and acquiring practical and technical skills relevant to the modern economy.
The founder and director of Rophine Group of Schools, Eunice Owiti, together with Group CEO Dr. Boniface Owiti, commended the Kwale County Government for its cooperation and efforts to improve education standards in the county.
The Rophine leadership also acknowledged the county’s Elimu Ni Sasa scholarship programme, which they said has supported more than 30,000 students annually across basic and higher education.
Other leaders who attended the ceremony included Msambweni MP Feisal Abdallah and Kinondo MCA Juma Maone. They welcomed the university project, noting that it is expected to create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity in Kinondo Ward.
Senior county officials present included CEC members for Agriculture Roman Shera, Tourism and ICT Michael Mutua, and Water Hamed Mwabudzo, as well as Chief of Staff Joshua Mdoe, County Attorney Salim Gombeni, Director Francis Ndiege, Advisor Mshenga Ruga and other government officials.
