2026 Safari Rally set for March 12–15 in Naivasha as preparations wrap up
Cabinet Secretary for Sports Salim Mvurya has confirmed that the preparations for the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally are complete, setting the stage for another historic edition of Africa’s most iconic motorsport event, scheduled to run from March 12 to 15, 2026, in Nakuru County.
The four-day rally will feature 20 competitive stages spanning approximately 350 kilometres, attracting elite rally crews from across the world and the region, including Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

The event continues to reinforce Kenya’s position as a premier global motorsport destination while showcasing the country’s capacity to host world-class sporting events.
Speaking ahead of the rally, Mvurya highlighted the government’s commitment to delivering a safe, inclusive and economically impactful event.
“The Safari Rally Kenya will once again showcase Kenya as a premier sporting destination. We are adopting a whole-of-government approach and multi-agency coordination to deliver a world-class event that benefits communities and elevates Kenya’s global sporting profile,” Mvurya said.
Volunteer applications for the 2026 Safari Rally open tonight, with organisers adopting a deliberate inclusion policy that reserves 42 per cent of volunteer slots and senior official positions for women.
