Kenya Pipeline Line Bursts in Kisumu, Spills Oil on Highway

Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) counting loses after Major pipeline bursts spilling thousands of litres on Thursday night, March 3, in Kisumu near Kanyamedha and Obunga causing oil spillage in the area.

The cause of the breakage is still unknown however, engineers from KPC moved quickly to seal off the area and repair the line. 

Residents of Kanyamedha area in Kisumu have been urged to find a temporary residence as Kenya Pipeline Company officers address the dawn oil spillage.

In a statement on Friday, KPC Managing Director Macharia Irungu said the petroleum products supply across the country and the region has not been affected.

“We however wish to assure the public that the incident has not affected petroleum products availability both in the country and region. We have sufficient stocks for all the grades across our depots countrywide,” he said.
