Former Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel jail for 1year without an option of fine for assaulting MP Sarah Korere five years ago.

Former Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel has been sentenced for one year, without the option of a fine, for assaulting the current Laikipia North MP Sarah Korere back in 2016 at Harambee House.

Thee ruling was delivered by Senior Principal magistrate Hellen Onkwani saying the jail term will serve as an example to others who assault women.

“I have also considered the fact that the accused person is a first offender but I note that the accused is a leader who should be a good example to others. I hereby proceed to sentence the accused person to serve 1-year imprisonment,” the magistrate ruled.
