Andrew Mwadime Sworn In As 3rd Governor TaitaTaveta County
Andrew Mwadime with his running mate Christine Kilalo took oth of office today on 25th August, 2022 to become the 3rd governor of TaitaTaveta County.
Andrew won on an independent ticket to become the first candidate to win the gubernatorial race as an independent candidate in the coast region.
He garnered 49,901 votes to clinch the seat with Samboja of the ruling Jubilee Party coming second with 23,701 votes and Mrutu third.
Andrew Mwadime Katuu was born in Chawia Location, Mwatate Subcounty, Taita Taveta County, Kenya. He is the MP for Mwatate Constituency in Taita Taveta County having been elected to the 11th Parliament in 2013 on an ODM ticket where he served untill 2022 when he was elected governor.
In 2013, he floored his incumbent rival Calist Andrew Mwatela to clinch the Mwatate seat. The seat had been occupied by Marsden Herman Madoka on a KANU ticket from 1997 to 2007 and by Eliud Mwakio Mcharo from 1988 to 1997 on a KANU Ticket.
