Senior Counsel and People’s Liberation Party (PLP) presidential aspirant Martha Karua has reportedly been detained at Entebbe International Airport after Ugandan authorities denied her entry into the country.

Karua had travelled to Uganda alongside Law Society of Kenya President Charles Kanjama to attend a court ruling in a case involving lawyer Erias Lukwago.

According to her team, Karua remained held at the airport while Kanjama was allowed entry into the country. The team further stated that they had lost contact with her, raising concerns over her safety and whereabouts.

Karua is currently part of the legal team representing Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye in an ongoing treason case.
