Court Petition Seeks to Stop Nairobi CBD Walkway Upgrade
A petition has been filed at the High Court seeking to suspend the ongoing Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) walkway upgrade project, with claims that the works are being carried out in violation of the Constitution and public procurement laws.
The petitioner argues that the project was initiated without meaningful public participation, contrary to legal requirements, and has asked the court to immediately halt all cabro paving and related construction works.
According to the petition, the project should remain suspended until the court determines whether it complies with constitutional and statutory provisions governing public participation and procurement processes. The case now places the legality of the multi-million-shilling infrastructure project under judicial scrutiny.
