Taveta Town
Taveta lies at the border of Kenya and Tanzania. The town has been stagnating for years in terms of development untill when Voi holili road was tarmacked.
The past 4years the town has witness positive impact in terms of development with many investors coming to the area.
Taveta originally meant a “plain area” according to Wataveta. The town thrives as a point of commerce between Kenya and Tanzania, with twice weekly market activities taking place on Wednesday and Saturday
The town was built during the era of British Kenya and it came to limelight during the first world war. In 1914, Taveta was the scene of the first military action in East Africa between German and British forces.
On 15the August 1914, A German force led by Captain Tom Von Prince advanced across and seized the town. Taveta remained in German hands untill it was recaptured by British in March 1916
