Kibaki Accorded 19 Gun Salutes

The 3rd President of Kenya Emilio Mwai Kibaki was today laid to rest at his home in Othaya Constituency, Nyeri County in a ceremony that was presided over by Nyeri Catholic Archbishop Anthony Muheria.

The burial event was private; attended by the family and a few guests after a ceremony which was held at the Othaya Approved School grounds.

Kibaki’s body was buried next to the grave of his wife Mama Lucy Kibaki.

He was accorded 19 gun salutes as his body was being lowered into the grave.

After the gun salute, the forces observed a 2-minute silence in honour of the late president.
