World leaders mourn Raila Odinga as Kenya’s statesman, champion of democracy
World leaders have hailed Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as a towering statesman, courageous democrat, and unifying Pan-African voice whose impact reached far beyond Kenya’s borders.
In a heartfelt expression of grief and admiration, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan led regional tributes, describing Raila as a skilled leader, Pan-Africanist, and advocate for peace whose influence extended across East Africa and the entire continent.
“This loss is not Kenya’s alone — it is ours as well,” she stated while conveying condolences to President William Ruto, Mama Ida Odinga, and the people of Kenya.
