Uganda has confirmed nine cases of Omicron in the country.

Uganda becomes the first country in East Africa to report cases of Omicron. The country confirmed nine cases of Omicron, Covid-19 variant from samples collected from in travelers coming into the country.

The cases were detected from people screened at Entebbe International Airport who were entering the country from five different countries.

Five had come from Nigeria, two from South Africa — where the variant was first reported — and two from the United Arab Emirates.
