Tanzania have suspended manager Adel Amrouche after he was given an eight-match ban and fined $10,000 by the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

His dismissal was confirmed by the Tanzanian Football Federation with Hemed Suleiman promoted from assistant coach to caretaker boss for the rest of the Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The Tanzania Football Federation cited the eight match ban handed down to the Taifa Stars tactician by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over remarks he made against the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

Algeria-born Amrouche had allege Moroccan officials within CAF decide who referees matches involving the senior men’s national team, and at what time they kick off.

Tanzania fell to Morocco 3-0 in their opening game of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday in a game that Tanzania had Novatus Miroshi sent off with 20 minutes left.

Amrouche was appointed as Taifa Stars coach on March 4, 2023.
