Taita Taveta (MCA’S) Attend Induction Program

Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) of Taita Taveta are currently attending an induction, which is aimed at empowering them in discharging their tripartite roles of legislation, representation and oversight.

Led by the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Wisdom Mwamburi, who has officially opened the week- long session, the MCAs have been reminded of the huge expectations that the Citizens of Taita Taveta have of the County Assembly while the Speaker expressed his optimism that the induction will help to equip them and horn their knowledge and skills.

Majority Leader, Hon. Anthony Mng’ambwa, reiterated the importance of all sessions to the successful discharge of their duties, bearing in mind that the Assembly works through Committees, each with its unique role. Hon. Newton Salim Kifuso, the Minority Leader, requested the Members to cooperate with the facilitators in order to maximize and optimize the lessons drawn from the induction. The Clerk to the Assembly, Mr. Gadiel Maganga, demonstrated that the induction training is very robust as it covers many key topics including the performance of the Assembly, Committee System, overview of Standing Orders, the Budgeting Process as well as inter-governmental relations.

The First Trainer of the induction Session, Mr. Julius Ariwomoi, a consultant with Radiance Star Legislative Consult Ltd, who was also a former employee of the National Parliament and former Clerk of the West Pokot County Assembly, congratulated the Assembly leadership for undertaking the induction training, while noting that training on legislative matters are not offered in regular institutions of higher learning and colleges.

The Induction is being conducted as per the County Assembly Standing Orders which require that legislators be taken through induction before official resumption of the business of the House, which adjourned on Thursday 29th September, 2022, purposely for matters of this training.
