President Ruto assures Kenyans of access to free quality health services

President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that Universal Health Coverage aims at ensuring that all Kenyans access free quality health services, including for critical illnesses such as cancer. 

The Received a brief on the roll out of UHC from the Ministry of Health officials led by Cabinet Secretary Susan  Nakhumicha said the programme is a key promise in Kenya Kwanza manifesto that the government seeks to fully implement. 

“Universal Health Coverage is a key promise in our manifesto. The programme aims at ensuring that all Kenyans access free quality health services, including for critical illnesses such as cancer.“ Said the President.

President Ruto said the government has set up three funds to meet the cost of Universal Health Coverage. 

The president said the funds are the Primary Health Care Fund, Social Health Insurance Fund and Emergency Chronic and Critical Illness Fund. 

“ The government has set up three funds to meet the cost of Universal Health Coverage. These are the Primary Health Care Fund, Social Health Insurance Fund and Emergency Chronic and Critical Illness Fund.“ He added.

President Ruto has already urged Kenyans to register for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF). 

Beginning next month, Kenyans will be required to first visit a health facility within their chosen hub when seeking services.
