Mercy Mwangangi named new Social Health Authority CEO

The Ministry of Health has appointed Dr. Mercy Mwangangi as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Social Health Authority.

Mwangangiโ€™s appointment comes after a competitive recruitment process in which 92 individuals applied. From this group, 12 candidates were shortlisted and interviewed.

โ€œWe are confident that she has what it takes to steer SHA and deliver on the mandate of SHA,โ€ Duale added.

Mwangangi, a former Health Chief Administrative Secretary and a specialist in health financing and policy, brings over 15 years of experience in areas such as universal health coverage, institutional reform, and strengthening of health systems.

She is also known for her leadership in health governance, resource mobilisation, and building strategic partnerships that have shaped policy direction in Kenyaโ€™s healthcare sector.

Currently serving as the Senior Health Systems Strengthening Director at AMREF Health Africa, Mwangangi has led efforts to expand health security and financing across the continent.
