Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo has been impeached after the County Assembly passed a motion to remove him from office.

Sixteen out of 18 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) voted in favour of the motion. Two members were absent. No one opposed the motion.

Governor Guyo, according to the county assembly, did not appear before the Assembly to defend himself despite being formally invited. His absence was recorded, and the session proceeded in line with Standing Orders.

The impeachment follows weeks of debate, public engagement, and legal consultations across the county’s ten wards.

The Speaker of the County Assembly is now expected to forward the resolution to the Senate for consideration, as required by Article 181 of the Constitution and Section 33 of the County Governments Act.
