Baringo Senator William Cheptumo has passed away. He died on Sunday morning at Nairobi Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi expressed his profound shock and grief at the news of the lawmaker’s demise.

“I join his family, the people of Baringo County, and all Kenyans in mourning a great leader. I pray that God grants us all the grace and fortitude to bear this monumental loss. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he stated.

Kingi remarked that the country has lost a leader who firmly believed in devolution and consistently seized every opportunity to advance its cause and the welfare of Kenyans.

“Senator Cheptumo was a dedicated leader who undertook his legislative responsibilities with unmatched zeal and selflessly articulated the interests of the people of Baringo and Kenyans at large,” he added.

Cheptumo was elected as the Member of Parliament for Baringo North three times before becoming the Senator for Baringo in the 2022 election.
