A number of people Feared Dead after Matatu Rams Into Trailer

A number of passangers feared dead after a 2NK shuttle matatu travelling from Bungoma to Nairobi hit a trailer from the rear at Musembe, Lugari. The incident took place after a PSV 14 seate matatu from 2NK was involved in grisly road accident with a trailer on Sunday morning , January 2.

Reports indicated that eight people including matatu driver died on spot while the rest who survived were rushed to the nearby health facilities for treatment.

Confirming the incident, Kakamega County Police Commander Hassan Barua, stated that the matatu rammed into a stationary truck at the Musembe area.

“The matatu, a part of the 2NK Sacco, was heading to Nairobi from Bungoma when it hit the lorry from behind at Musembe. Our officers rushed the injured passengers to Webuye Sub-county Hospital,” the police commander, Mr Barua stated.
