We want war to end – Ukraine gives condition for talks with Russia
Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed readiness to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin on some conditions.
Putin had requested to have talks with President Zelensky in Belarus.
But, the Ukrainian President rejected convening in neighbouring Belarus as it was being used as a launchpad for Moscow’s invasion.
Independent UK reports that Zelenskyy, in an address posted online, offered alternative locations; Warsaw, Bratislava, Budapest, Istanbul and Baku to hold peace talks.
“Warsaw, Bratislava, Budapest, Istanbul, Baku. We proposed all of them.
“We want to talk, we want to end the war but only in a country where missiles are not flying.
“Other locations are possible but we will not hold peace talks in Belarus which played a critical role in aiding Moscow’s invasion,” he was quoted to have said.
President Zelenskyy asked that the world scraps Russia’s voting power at the United Nations Security Council, adding that its actions bear signs of genocide.
