Supreme Court set to rule on Sonko’s impeachment today

Supreme Court of Kenya today is expected to deliver its judgment in an impeachment appeal case filed by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

Sonko had earlier filed the appeal at the apex court after both the Court of Appeal and the High Court upheld his removal from office by the Senate.

In a notice late Thursday, Supreme Court registrar Letizia Wachira noted that the judges will, on Friday, render their judgment at 4 pm by way of an email.

If the Supreme Court upholds the decisions of the lower courts, Sonko will never contest for any political seat, as his previous impeachment renders him unfit to hold a position in public office.
