44yr opposition candidate Bassirou Diomaye Faye is set to be elected president of Senegal, just over a week since he was released from prison.

He becomes the youngest elected president of in the country’s history. He was a replacement for the Pan Africanist Sonko, who was ineligible for the election. The Senegal youths made this happen by protesting day and night to ensure a free, fair and credible election was delivered.

Bassirou was just released from prison a few days before the elections.

The ruling party’s candidate Amadou Ba, the immediate former Prime Minister, has conceded defeat and congratulated Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his first-round election victory.
