Archbishop Anthony Muheria has been appointed as acting bishop of the Diocese of Embu by Pope Francis.

Muheria, the Archbishop of Nyeri, succeeds Bishop Paul Kariuki, who was transferred to the newly formed Diocese of Wote.

Muheria will serve in an acting capacity until a substantive replacement is appointed.

Hubertus Maria Van Megen, Pope Francis’ representative in Kenya and South Sudan, confirmed that the process of finding a new Bishop for the diocese is already underway.

For the time being, Muheria will split his time between the Diocese of Nyeri and the Diocese of Embu.
