The National Assembly is set to resume its sittings Tuesday afternoon, following a long holiday recess.

Crucial bills that will attract huge debate in the August House will be the Finance Bill 2024 which will provide revenue generating mechanisms for the 2025/2026 budget estimates.

The current Finance Act drew sharp criticism from political opponents, civil servants, and industry groups as it increased various taxes and introduced new ones including the fuel levy.

The house will also consider the regulations on the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) regulations which has proposed 2.75 percent deduction of the gross salary or wage of the household by the ninth day of each month.
