JSC acknowledges receipt of petition to kick out CJ Koome
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has confirmed receiving a petition from former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi seeking the removal of Chief Justice Martha Koome from office.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 16, the JSC noted that the petition, which also calls for the removal of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and five Supreme Court judges, cited allegations of gross misconduct.
The commission maintained that the matter will be addressed in accordance with the established procedures and processes under the rule of law.
“The JSC acknowledges receipt of a petition dated 10th January 2025 filed by Mr. Nelson Havi against Lady Justice Martha Koome, Lady Justice Philomena Mwilu, Justice Mohammed Ibrahim, Justice Dr. Smokin Wanjala, Lady Justice Njoki Ndungu, Justice Isaac Lenaola and Justice William Ouko,” JSC stated.
It added, “The complaints filed will be dealt with in accordance with the processes and procedures developed and in compliance with the rule of law and Fair Administrative Action Act.”
