IEBC suspended elections of members of the county assembly (MCA) elections in four wards.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has suspended members of the county assembly (MCA) elections in four wards.

This follows the deaths of candidates that had been cleared to vie.

“We shall communicate via a Gazette notice when said elections will be conducted,” the Commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati said in a Gazette Notice dated July 25.

The wards include the Thaana ward in Mwingi West, Kitui County. This was occasioned by the death of candidate Stanley Ngui Muthengi.

Electorates in Oloimasani ward, Emurua Dikir Constituency in Naroki will also not vote on August 9. MCA candidate Marcelly Kiptonui Kiruy passed away.

South Gem in Gem, Siaya was also affected after the death of candidate Maurice Nick Otieno Wanga.

Utawala ward in Embakasi East lost their candidate Michael Mwathi Gitonga. The election has also been suspended in the area
