The National Government has release KES 206 million to compensate victims of human-wildlife conflict in TaitaTaveta county for the period 2014- 2021, with the announcement being made at the Governor’s office in Mwatate.

Through a joint presser attended by County Commissioner Layford Kibaara and KWS officials, Governor Mwadime called on the Kenya Wildlife Service KWS to redeem its image, with emphasis placed on relations with the residents.

“Many residents have been manhandled by KWS officers, particularly those bordering the park. The officers need to create a rapport with the people since they have a great role to play in conservation” He said

KWS Senior Warden Captain Ken Ochieng said they will work on all concerns raised and amicably solve the issue of ties with the residents.

County Commissioner Layford Kibaara assured the governor that the National Government will continue working closely with the county Government.
