CS Ababu booed at late Fred Omondi’s last laugh event
Youth and Sports CS Ababu Namwamba had a hard time addressing Kenyans who had gathered to honour comedian and singer Fred Omondi who died following a road accident.
He was brother to comedian and activist Eric Omondi.
During the event dubbed “Fred Omondi, The last Laugh” Ababu who was on stage with other officials to pay his tributes was met by a hostile crowd that started booing him as he handed over to the officers who had accompanied him to say a word.
In videos seen by the Star, as Churchill intervened and tried to calm the crowd, they started chanting “Ruto must go”.
Ababu in response to the booing and “Ruto must go” chants said he respects the energy from the crowd.
“We recognize that energy, we appreciate it but we shall pay respects to Fredrick (Fred) Omondi tonight.
“We live in an amazing country where everybody has a right to say their bit. Asanteni sana. Keep booing, keep cheering, keep saying no as others say yes,” Ababu said.
