KenGen appoints Abraham Serem as Acting MD Following Miano’s Exit
Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) has appointed Abraham Serem as Managing Director and CEO in an acting capacity following Rebecca Miano’s appointment to the Cabinet.
Serem will replace Rebecca Miano who has been appointed as the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development.
He has been the General Manager of Human Resources and Administration at the company since March 1, 2016.
He will continue acting in the position until the company advertises the position in a few weeks to come for the recruitment of a substantive CEO.
“Mr Serem will be responsible for overseeing the transition process of the NSE – listed firm at a time when the entire country is undergoing changes, following the August General Elections which ushered in a new government,” read the statement.
KenGen Board Chairman, General (Rtd) Samson Mwathethe thanked outgoing CEO Rebecca Miano for her work terming it an “exemplary and stellar performance”.
“Mrs. Miano led KenGen through an action-packed phase of steady growth which continued over the duration of her leadership, putting KenGen firmly on an upward trajectory,” he said
