World Marathon Record Holder Kelvin Kiptum Dies In Fatal Crash
World marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum lost his life on Monday, February 12, through a road accident along the Eldoret-Kaptagat Road.
24-year-old Kiptum died alongside his Rwandese Coach Gervais Hakizimana after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a tragic road accident along the Eldoret-Kaptagat road.
Kiptum marathon record of two hours and 35 seconds, set during last year’s Chicago marathon was ratified a week ago with his team announcing that he was to attempt to run the distance in under two hours at the Rotterdam marathon, a feat that has never been achieved in open competition.
