Former Harambee Stars midfielder Sammy ‘Kempes’ Owino officially announced his candidature for the presidency of the Football Kenya Federation on Tuesday in Nairobi.

Owino shared his vision for Kenya football if elected to office in the polls to be held next year.

Sammy believes that through transparent leadership and good investment in youth structures and academies,he can help Kenya restore it’s lost glory regionally and continentally

The former Gor Mahia ace who moved to the United States on a football scholarship said Kenyan football has suffered over the years due to bad leadership and lack of proper infrastructure.

“Our football is in shambles, which is why we cannot match the rest of Africa,” he said.

He holds a U.S Soccer Federation Level A coaching license, demonstrating his commitment to education and professionalism in football.
