Uhuru Rejects ICT Act, Send it back to parliament
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday signed into law 10 parliamentary bills into law.
Among the 10 are the 2022 Appropriation Bill, Supplementary Appropriation Bill and Finance Bill.
Others were the 2021 Radiographers Bill; National Electronic Single Window Bill; Traffic (Amendment) Bill; National Government Development Fund (Amendment) Bill; Supreme Court (Amendment) Bill of 2022; County Allocation of Revenue Bill; and Mental Health Bill.
The President however rejected to ascend to ICT Bill and instead sent the Bill back to Parliament with a memoranda asking the House to listen to practitioners and put into consideration their concerns.
The ICT Bill, attracted a backlash from Kenyans who termed it ridiculous.
The Bill required that all ICT practitioners, including those with basic skills such as building a website, must get licenses to be allowed to operate.
