Tim Wanyonyi declares 2027 bid for Nairobi governor seat
Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has said that he is ready to run for the Nairobi governor seat in 2027.
Speaking on Tuesday, the Westlands MP said he has the intention to go for the seat and will not back down this time round.
He said that in the last general election, he was eyeing the seat but was told to step down due to coalition arrangement reached between ODM and the Jubilee party.
“Last time, I was running for the governor of Nairobi position and I launched my campaign in this church. I remember we talked about my candidature with the pastors and they endorsed and blessed me to go ahead and campaign,” he said.
“Later I was told that something to do with the coalition and told me to vie for the MP seat. But this time round, that journey must go until the end, this time whether they bring coalition or not my vehicle will not have a reverse gear.”
On May 1, 2022, Wanyonyi said he agreed not to run for the top county seat because his party leader Raila Odinga had been cleared to run for president under the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance.
